Growth hormone resistance in beta cells after pregnancy

This study looks at how the body's insulin-making cells (beta cells) might become resistant to growth hormone after a full-term pregnancy. It compares women who had gestational diabetes to those who didn't, to learn more about diabetes risk. You may join if you had a healthy single-baby pregnancy in the last 5 years and never had type 1 or type 2 diabetes.

Who can take part

  • You had a single baby, full-term pregnancy within the last 5 years
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is between 18.5 and 45
  • You are not pregnant, planning to become pregnant soon, or breastfeeding
  • You do not have or have never had type 1 or type 2 diabetes
  • You have no first-degree relative (parent, sibling, child) with diabetes
  • You do not smoke more than 2 cigarettes a day and do not have an alcohol or drug use problem
