You may qualify if you have higher-than-normal fasting blood sugar or slightly impaired glucose tolerance, but not yet diabetes. Who can take part

  • Your BMI (body mass index) must be between 18.5 and 45.9
  • You must have impaired fasting glucose (100–126 mg/dL) or impaired glucose tolerance on a glucose tolerance test, but NOT a diabetes diagnosis
  • You cannot be pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding
  • You cannot have type 1 or type 2 diabetes, or a first-degree relative with type 1 diabetes
  • You cannot take certain medications (like GLP-1 agonists) that affect blood sugar
  • You must not have had weight loss greater than 3% in the last 3 months or be doing intense exercise more than 3 days per week
