Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 59 years old
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is between 30.0 and 44.9
  • You have a parent or sibling with type 2 diabetes (for one study group) OR you do not have such a family history (for the control group)
  • You do not have diabetes yourself (type 1 or type 2)
  • You are not pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding
  • You have not had weight loss surgery or used certain diabetes drugs like Ozempic recently
