This study looks at how your brain and nerves control balance if you've had ankle sprains or feel your ankle giving way. Healthy people and those with ankle problems are invited to help researchers understand ankle instability better.

Who can take part

  • You do at least 90 minutes of physical activity each week (like walking, running, or sports).
  • You fall into one of three groups: never sprained your ankle, or sprained it but it doesn't give way, or sprained it and it gives way often.
  • You have not had any surgery or broken bones in your leg or foot.
  • You are not pregnant, and do not have a balance disorder, nerve disease, or recent head injury.
  • You are not taking medications that affect thinking (like narcotics, antidepressants, or anxiety pills).

This study tests if adding a special computer-based brain training activity to regular ankle function tests can help teenage and young adult athletes who have ongoing ankle problems. If you are a licensed football, basketball, or volleyball player aged 16–25 with chronic ankle instability for at least a year, you may be eligible.
