Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 65 years old.
  • You have kidney cancer and will have open surgery to remove the kidney.
  • Your overall health is stable (classified as ASA II or III by your doctor).
  • No skin infection or rash where the numbing shot would go.
  • Not allergic to the local anesthetics used.
  • No bleeding problems and body mass index (BMI) under 35.
