Mosaic brain: a new test for childhood epilepsy

Who can take part

  • The child must be under 18 years old.
  • They must be in the epilepsy surgery program at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), with a clear or suspected brain lesion seen on MRI.
  • They may also qualify if they are scheduled for a type of brain test called SEEG (stereo-electroencephalography).
  • They must be able to safely have a lumbar puncture (a spinal tap) before surgery.
  • Children with a malignant (cancerous) brain tumor or those being treated for an ischemic lesion (stroke-like damage) are not eligible.
