Comparing two ways to measure breathing readiness for tube removal

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years old or older.
  • You are currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
  • You have been on a breathing tube with a ventilator for more than 24 hours.
  • Your oxygen levels and lung settings are within a safe range (P/F ratio > 150, FiO2 ≤ 40%, and PEEP ≤ 8).
  • Your blood pressure is stable with little to no medication to keep it up.
