Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 80 years old
  • You are having planned (non-emergency) surgery under general anesthesia with a breathing tube
  • You will receive muscle relaxants during surgery (standard practice)
  • Your doctor plans to remove your breathing tube before you leave the operating room
  • You do not have a neuromuscular disease or severe lung disease
  • You are in generally good health (ASA status I, II, or III—your surgeon can tell you this)
