This trial tests a new immunotherapy drug, rilvegostomig, against the standard pembrolizumab, both given with chemotherapy, as a first treatment for advanced non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that cannot be cured with surgery or radiation. It is for people whose tumors have high PD-L1 levels and do not have certain genetic mutations.

Who can take part

  • You have been diagnosed with non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).
  • Your cancer is stage IIIB, IIIC, or IV and cannot be cured with surgery or radiation.
  • Your tumor does not have certain genetic mutations (EGFR, ALK, ROS1, or other targetable mutations).
  • Your tumor has PD-L1 levels of 1% or higher (tested from a tumor sample).
  • You have at least one tumor that can be measured on a CT or MRI scan and has not been treated with radiation.
  • You have not had prior systemic treatment for advanced lung cancer (except if you had early-stage treatment with progression after more than 12 months).
