Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 80 years old.
- You have squamous cell carcinoma of the anal canal or lower rectum.
- Your cancer is stage T1-2 with lymph node spread (N+) and no distant spread, or stage T3-4 with limited lymph node spread (N0-1c) and no distant spread.
- Disease outside the pelvis is limited to lower para-aortic nodes (near the kidneys) and is only visible on PET scan.
- You are in good general health (able to do light work, ECOG 0-1).
