Who can take part
- You are between 22 and 75 years old.
- You have gum disease (periodontitis) at a moderate to advanced stage (Stage III) in at least two teeth (not counting wisdom teeth).
- You have lost no more than 4 teeth because of gum disease.
- You have not had gum surgery in the past year, and you are willing to follow home care instructions and avoid other gum treatments during the study.
- You agree not to use smokeless tobacco and limit inhaled nicotine to 40 mg per day or less (about 2 packs of cigarettes).
- You do not have other conditions like active infections, recent cancer, HIV, or pregnancy, and you are not sensitive to light therapy.
