This trial is testing if adding the targeted therapy tivozanib to the immunotherapy drug pembrolizumab (Keytruda) can help prevent kidney cancer from coming back after all known tumors have been removed by surgery.

Who can take part
- You have had surgery to remove all visible kidney cancer (at least 4 weeks ago but no more than 16 weeks ago).
- Your cancer is a type called renal cell carcinoma with clear cells (with or without certain aggressive features).
- Your cancer was at intermediate-high or high risk of coming back, or you had one or a few spots of cancer elsewhere that were also removed or destroyed.
- You have not had any prior drug treatment for kidney cancer.
- You are 18 years or older and your overall health is reasonably good (able to care for yourself, ECOG 0-2).
- Your kidney, liver, and blood counts meet minimum levels, and your blood pressure is controlled.
