Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have been hospitalized after an injury affecting two or more body parts (like head, chest, belly, pelvis, or leg).
  • You have at least one high-risk factor: age 65 or older, body mass index (BMI) of 30 or more, a high injury severity score, a pelvic or leg injury that limits activity, or you had surgery during this hospital stay.
  • Your doctor decides it is safe for you to receive blood thinner medication, and you can start it within 48 hours of being admitted.
