Blood thinner options for clot patients already on antiplatelets

Who can take part

  • You can sign informed consent and understand the study.
  • You have a newly diagnosed symptomatic proximal DVT (in the thigh/knee area or higher) and/or a pulmonary embolism confirmed by tests.
  • Your doctor plans full-dose blood thinner treatment for at least 3 months.
  • You were already prescribed an antiplatelet for secondary prevention of heart/blood-vessel disease (not just to prevent first-time disease).
  • You are not at high risk for bleeding and your blood pressure is not extremely high (over 180/110).
  • Your clot has not been treated with a full-dose anticoagulant for more than 5 days before starting the study.
