Who can take part

  • Your baby must be 3 months old (13-17 weeks) when they join the study.
  • Your baby must have a specific genetic pattern that raises their risk of type 1 diabetes to about 7-10% by age 6.
  • You or your partner must sign a consent form agreeing to the study.
  • Your baby must not have been born before 36 weeks of pregnancy.
  • Your baby must not have any other medical condition or be taking any medicine that could interfere with the study.

Study of immune-modulating drugs for new-onset type 1 diabetes

This study tests two different medications (Anti-Thymocyte Globulin and Adalimumab or Verapamil) to see if they can slow down the loss of insulin production in people with newly diagnosed type 1 diabetes.
