Who can take part
- You are 18 or older.
- You are on a breathing machine with a very specific low-volume setting (6 mL per kilogram of ideal body weight).
- You have circulatory failure, meaning your body isn't getting enough blood flow.
- Your heart is beating in a normal rhythm (sinus rhythm).
- You do not have an open chest, very stiff lungs, severe obesity, or other conditions listed as exclusions.
