Who can take part

  • You are an adult with an ASA physical status classification of I to IV (generally healthy to very ill).
  • You are scheduled for laparoscopic surgery (keyhole surgery) while tilted head-down (Trendelenburg) for more than 2 hours.
  • Your doctor plans to place an arterial line (a small tube in an artery to monitor blood pressure closely).
  • You are not pregnant.
  • You are not on dialysis for kidney failure (renal replacement therapy).
