Who can take part

  • You are 18 to 40 years old.
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is between 18.5 and 30.
  • You are a military member who passed the latest Army Combat Fitness Test, or a civilian who exercises at least twice a week and can run 2 miles in 21 minutes or less.
  • You are willing to avoid exercise, alcohol, and caffeine for 24 hours before each test session, and avoid hard exercise for 36 hours before each test.
  • You have not used nicotine or recreational drugs for more than 1 month before the study starts.
  • You have no serious medical conditions, including blood disorders, heart disease, or history of asthma.
