Nerve stimulation to improve recovery after cardiac arrest

This study tests if stimulating the median nerve in the arm can help improve brain function in people who have survived a cardiac arrest but still cannot make purposeful movements. It is for patients who have been stable for at least a week and received advanced life support within 6 hours after their heart restarted.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • Your blood pressure and heart function have been stable for at least 7 days.
  • After CPR and your heart restarting, you still cannot move or respond on purpose.
  • You received advanced life support (like a breathing tube or medications) within 6 hours of your heart restarting.
  • You do not have a pacemaker, severe irregular heartbeat, or a history of seizures.
  • You do not have any physical blockages or abnormal anatomy in the nerve pathway of your arm.
