Who can take part

  • You must be between 18 and 80 years old
  • You must have a severe brain injury (GCS score 3 to 8)
  • A CT scan must show a new brain injury
  • You cannot have diabetes, certain other brain conditions, or serious injuries to other parts of the body
  • Your blood tests must be within healthy ranges (like sodium, kidney and liver function, and clotting)
