Who can take part

  • Your child must be under 7 years old.
  • Your child is scheduled for heart surgery that uses a heart-lung machine (cardiopulmonary bypass).
  • Your child's blood albumin level is 4.0 g/dL or lower.
  • Your child's kidney function is normal (creatinine level is not too high).
  • Your child has never needed dialysis and does not have liver problems, diabetes, or a bleeding disorder.
  • Your child is not allergic to albumin.
