Who can take part

  • You are between 30 and 79 years old.
  • You had a small stroke in a deep part of the brain in the last 3 weeks, or you have white matter changes seen on a brain scan (rated as moderate to severe).
  • You do not have symptoms like trouble speaking, recognizing objects, or vision loss in one side of your visual field.
  • You can walk on your own or with some help (disability score of 4 or less).
  • Your main brain arteries are not significantly blocked (no stenosis of 30% or more in neck or vertebra arteries related to your stroke).
  • You do not have a heart condition that requires blood thinners for conditions like atrial fibrillation.
  • You have no history of bleeding in the brain, active stomach ulcers, or bleeding problems.
  • You are not pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding, and you are willing to use birth control during the study.
  • You can have an MRI scan and are willing to attend follow-up visits.
