Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • This is your first blood clot that happened without a known cause (like surgery or long travel).
  • The clot was in your lung (pulmonary embolism) or a large vein in your leg (proximal deep vein thrombosis).
  • You have been taking blood thinners (anticoagulants) for 3 to 6 months without stopping for more than 2 weeks.
  • You do not have active cancer, are not pregnant, and do not need blood thinners for another medical reason.
