Who can take part
- Your child is between 2 and 7 years old
- Your child is scheduled for surgery to repair a congenital inguinal hernia (a hernia near the belly button area)
- Your child is generally healthy (classified as ASA I or II)
- No known allergies to any of the medicines used in this study (dexmedetomidine, propofol, or sevoflurane)
- Your child does not have any ongoing behavioral, developmental, or neurological conditions
- No other sedative or anticonvulsant medicines are being taken by your child
