Who can take part
- You are 70 years or older, male, or have an ASA score of III (a measure of health before surgery)
- You smoke or have high blood pressure
- You are scheduled for head or neck surgery and are expected to stay in the hospital for at least 5 days
- You have not had a stroke, dementia, brain aneurysm, brain tumor, head injury, epilepsy, diabetes, brain surgery, or serious mental illness
- You have not had surgery in the last 2 weeks
- You speak Italian or English
