This study tests whether a safe, non-invasive brain stimulation technique (called rTMS) can improve hand strength and movement in people who have had a stroke at least 3 months ago. The treatment is delivered through a coil placed on the scalp and does not require surgery.

Who can take part

  • You are 21 years old or older
  • You had a stroke (either from a clot or bleeding) at least 3 months ago, and it only affected one side of your body
  • You have some arm or hand weakness on one side, but not complete paralysis
  • You do not have any metal implants in your body, a history of seizures, or a scalp injury that would interfere with the brain stimulation
  • You are not currently enrolled in another stroke recovery research study
