Who can take part

  • You need to have a thyroid problem that requires total thyroid removal for the first time.
  • You cannot have had any prior thyroid or parathyroid surgery.
  • You must not be pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • You must not have kidney failure or an allergy to contrast dye or iodine.
  • You must be 18 years or older and able to understand the study and attend follow-up visits.
