Who can take part

  • You are 18 or older.
  • You have stage IIIB or IV squamous non-small cell lung cancer that has not been treated before for advanced disease.
  • You have moderate to severe COPD that is stable, with a certain level of eosinophils (a type of white blood cell) in your blood.
  • Your cancer does not have certain gene changes (like EGFR or ALK).
  • You are well enough to have daily activities (ECOG 0-2).
  • You have not used oral or IV steroids for any reason in the last month.
  • You are not pregnant or nursing, and you are not in another trial.
