- You are having a planned heart surgery that uses a heart-lung machine (extracorporeal circulation).
- Your heart function is stable, with a normal pumping strength (EF >= 50%) and mild to no symptoms at rest (NYHA class I to III).
- You are otherwise healthy enough for surgery (ASA class II to III).
- You have not had heart surgery before.
- You do not have a history of sleep problems, mental health issues, or substance abuse.
- You can communicate normally and do not have severe liver or kidney problems.
- You are not allergic to the study medicines (dexmedetomidine or esketamine).
