Who can take part

  • You have a tumor in your chest that needs palliative radiation to relieve symptoms or stop it from growing and causing problems in the next 6 months.
  • You are 18 years old or older.
  • You are able to take care of yourself (up to being in bed less than half of the day – ECOG score 0-3).
  • You are expected to live at least 3 more months.
  • You have not had radiation to your chest before, or if you did, it was at least 12 months ago and a new plan can meet safety limits.
  • You do not have serious lung disease (like interstitial lung disease) or other major health issues that would make radiation unsafe.
  • You are not pregnant or nursing, and you can complete the full course of treatment and follow-up visits.
