Chest Radiation for Advanced Lung Cancer at High Risk of Symptoms

This study tests whether giving radiation to tumors in the chest soon after starting systemic therapy can help prevent symptoms like pain, trouble breathing, or bleeding. Who can take part

  • You have non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that has spread (stage IV) or has come back after initial treatment.
  • Your tumor does not have certain gene changes (EGFR, ALK, or ROS1 mutations).
  • You have a tumor in your chest area (lung or lymph nodes) that is at least 2 to 5 cm, or is touching important structures like your windpipe, esophagus, spine, heart, or major blood vessels.
  • You have not had radiation to your chest before.
  • You started a new systemic therapy (chemotherapy, immunotherapy, etc.) for stage IV disease within the last 6 months (or are about to start it).
  • You are able to take care of yourself and are up and about more than half the day.
