Psilocybin's effect on consciousness: serotonin receptor role

Healthy

This study tests how psilocybin (the active ingredient in magic mushrooms) affects consciousness by blocking a specific serotonin receptor in the brain. It helps researchers understand why psilocybin causes altered states of mind.

NCT06899334Recruiting· Phase 1
Comparing LSD, psilocybin, and DMT in healthy volunteers

This study compares how three different psychedelic substances affect your state of mind. The goal is to better understand these altered states, which may help develop future treatments.

NCT07079852Not yet recruiting· Phase 1/Phase 2
Psilocybin and its effects on memory and brain function

This trial tests how psilocybin, a psychedelic substance, affects your thinking, memory, and brain activity. Researchers want to understand these effects in healthy adults who have used psychedelics before.

NCT05301608Recruiting· Phase 1/Phase 2
Psilocybin study of brain activity and changing thoughts

This Phase 1/2 study tests psilocybin to see how it affects brain signals and the “content” of thoughts while you are monitored during the study. Because participants must be generally healthy and mentally stable, it may be an option if you meet those safety and medication rules and are comfortable having your brain activity measured.

NCT07610135Recruiting· Phase 1/Phase 2
Psilocybin with or without pimavanserin pretreatment

This trial tests whether taking pimavanserin before psilocybin changes the drug's effects in healthy volunteers who have never used psychedelics. It aims to understand how to make psychedelic therapy safer and more predictable.

Baltimore, Maryland
NCT07565493Recruiting· Early Phase 1
Psilocybin with a serotonin blocker in healthy adults

This early-stage research study tests how psilocybin (a naturally occurring compound from certain mushrooms) works when combined with a medication that blocks a specific serotonin pathway in the brain. Researchers want to understand how these two substances interact in healthy volunteers to inform future psychiatric treatment studies.

Baltimore, Maryland
NCT07433452Not yet recruiting· Phase 1
Psilocybin study in healthy volunteers with psychedelic interest

This study gives a single dose of psilocybin to healthy adults who are curious about psychedelics but have little to no past use. Researchers will measure how it affects your mood, brain activity, and body chemistry to understand its effects better.
