Nutrition therapy for muscle loss in cirrhosis with fluid buildup

Liver CirrhosisRefractory Ascites in Patients With CirrhosisSarcopenia in Liver Cirrhosis

Part of Brain & nervous system, Digestive system clinical trials.

This trial tests whether a special nutrition plan can help treat muscle loss in people with liver cirrhosis who also have fluid buildup that doesn't improve with standard treatment. It aims to improve strength and outcomes after a procedure to place a shunt in the liver.

Study gut microbes and muscle loss in liver cirrhosis

This study looks at the gut microbiome (the helpful bacteria in your gut) and muscle loss (sarcopenia) in people with liver cirrhosis. It may help researchers understand what changes in the gut and body can go along with getting weaker, so better treatments can be developed.

TIPS for improving muscle wasting in liver cirrhosis

This study looks at how a treatment called TIPS (a procedure to reduce pressure in the liver) might help improve muscle wasting (sarcopenia) in people with liver cirrhosis. If you are scheduled for TIPS, researchers want to see if it can stop or reverse muscle loss.

Study causes of poor nutrition in people with liver scarring

This study looks at why some people with cirrhosis (liver scarring) develop malnutrition, especially when blood flow is redirected during certain surgeries. It may help explain what contributes to low body weight and muscle so better treatments can be planned in the future.
