- You are 18 or older
- You have a rotator cuff tear that needs surgery and is no larger than 2 cm (about 0.8 inches)
- You have not had previous surgery (like rotator cuff repair, joint replacement, or fracture surgery) on the same shoulder
- You don't have a history of alcoholism, drug abuse, or serious emotional problems that could make it hard to follow the study plan
- You don't have inflammatory arthritis (like rheumatoid arthritis)
- You are willing to have surgery, do the rehab program, and follow the study schedule (including MRI scans)
- You are not pregnant or breastfeeding
