Who can take part

  • You must be over 18 years old and have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.
  • Your kidney function (measured by eGFR) must be between 20 and 80 mL/min/1.73 m², meaning moderate kidney damage.
  • A urine test must show a certain amount of protein (albumin) ranging from 30 to 3500 mg/g.
  • Your average blood sugar over the last 3 months (HbA1c) should be between 7.0% and 11.0%.
  • You cannot have type 1 diabetes, kidney disease from other causes, or hemoglobin level below 9 g/dL.
