Quizartinib maintenance for FLT3-ITD AML in remission

This trial tests two different doses of an oral targeted pill called quizartinib (a FLT3 inhibitor) to keep AML with a FLT3-ITD mutation in remission after initial chemo. If you are in first complete remission and haven't had a transplant, this might be an option to lower the chance of relapse.

Who can take part

  • You must be at least 18 years old and have a new diagnosis of AML with a specific gene change called FLT3-ITD.
  • You need to be in your first complete remission (CR1) after 1 or 2 cycles of induction chemo, with or without a FLT3 inhibitor.
  • You must not have received a stem cell transplant for your AML, or more than 4 cycles of consolidation chemo.
  • You should have normal blood cell counts (ANC >1000 and platelets >100) and be able to start maintenance within 60 days of your last consolidation.
  • Your heart function needs to be good (no serious arrhythmias, heart block, or recent heart attack; QTcF ≤450 ms).
  • You cannot be taking strong or moderate CYP3A inducers (certain drugs) 2 weeks before starting the trial.
