Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older
  • You are admitted to the intensive care unit right after heart surgery with a breathing tube (intubated)
  • The ventilator is set to fully control your breaths (Assist Control or SIMV mode)
  • Your height and weight are recorded in your medical file
  • You are not breathing mostly on your own or already without the breathing tube when you arrive in intensive care
