Who can take part
- You have been diagnosed with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).
- You are 18 years or older.
- Your blood oxygen level is very low (PaO2/FiO2 less than 150) while on a breathing machine with high oxygen and pressure settings.
- You do not have a pacemaker or other implanted electronic device.
- Your body mass index (BMI) is 30 or less.
- You have not had recent major chest or belly surgery, and you do not have an unstable spine or pelvis.
