You may be able to join if you have had asthma for at least a year, use high-dose inhalers plus another controller medicine, and have had a recent flare-up.

Who can take part
- Be between 12 and 75 years old and weigh at least 66 pounds (30 kg).
- Have had asthma for at least 1 year and currently use a high-dose inhaled steroid plus another controller medicine (like a long-acting bronchodilator) for at least 2 months.
- Have had at least 1 asthma flare-up in the past year that needed steroids by mouth or IV, or a hospital or emergency room visit.
- Have a lung function test (FEV1) that is 80% or less of normal for adults (or 90% or less for teens), measured before using a rescue inhaler.
- Agree to use effective birth control from the start of the study until 6 months after the last dose.
- Be able to understand the study and sign a consent form (parents also need to sign for teens).
