Who can take part

  • You must be between 18 and 60 years old.
  • You must have a new diagnosis of AML (not a type called APL).
  • You must not have received prior chemotherapy for AML (except hydroxyurea or a procedure to lower white blood cells).
  • Your white blood cell count must be 25,000 or lower.
  • You must be well enough to perform daily activities (ECOG score 0–2).
  • Your kidney and liver function must be within certain limits.
