- Your child is between 0 and 3 years old.
- Your child is scheduled for heart surgery (not an emergency) to fix a congenital heart defect using a heart-lung machine.
- Your child has sleep problems, as identified by a sleep screening questionnaire.
- Your child has not taken any treatments or medicines for sleep before the surgery.
- Your child's heart surgery risk score (RACHS-1) is less than 4.
