Who can take part
- You are at least 18 years old.
- You are scheduled for lung removal surgery (or have a spot that could be lung cancer).
- Your doctor has referred you to a prehabilitation program to prepare for surgery.
- You live at home with another adult who can be present during your exercise sessions.
- Your surgery is not yet scheduled, or is at least 4 weeks away.
- Your peak oxygen uptake (a measure of heart-lung fitness) is below 20 ml/kg/min.
- You have health insurance.
- You can read and understand the study information and sign a consent form.
- You do not need oxygen while exercising.
- You have no heart condition that makes exercise unsafe.
- You are willing to take part in a center-based exercise training program.
- You do not have any bone, joint, nerve, blood vessel, or muscle problem that would prevent exercising on a stationary bike.

- You are not pregnant or breastfeeding.
