Who can take part

  • You are an adult (18 or older).
  • You are scheduled for weight-loss surgery (sleeve gastrectomy or gastric bypass).
  • Your doctor suspects you have MASH (a type of fatty liver disease with inflammation) and plans to take a small piece of your liver during surgery.
  • You do not have Hepatitis B or C, heavy drinking history, or other specific liver diseases.
  • You are not pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking certain medications (like steroids, tamoxifen, or methotrexate) in the last 6 months.
