Who can take part

  • You are 65 or older and have a ventral hernia that can be repaired with surgery and mesh.
  • You are able to use a smartphone that can download the Health Kit app.
  • You are considered frail based on a short health questionnaire.
  • You do not have severe joint or muscle pain that limits movement.
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is 50 or lower.
  • You are willing to be randomly assigned to the exercise program or standard care.
