Wheelchair treadmill vs. standard exercises for trunk balance after spinal cord injury

This study compares wheelchair treadmill training with regular exercises to see which better improves trunk (core) balance for people with spinal cord injuries. If you use a manual wheelchair and have an injury at T6 or below, this trial may help you find a better way to strengthen your core.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • Your spinal cord injury is at the T6 level (mid-back) or lower.
  • You have an ASIA classification of A or B (meaning little or no movement and feeling below your injury).
  • You have been using a manual wheelchair for at least four weeks.
  • Your spine is stable (your doctor has confirmed this).
  • You do not have osteoporosis, heart or lung disease, or any other nerve or muscle conditions (other than your spinal cord injury).
