Who can take part
- You are 18 or older
- You currently have a nasogastric (NG) tube in place
- Your NG tube was placed because of a recent acute illness (like a temporary loss of consciousness, need for extra oxygen, or general weakness that made swallowing risky)
- You are alert and can follow commands (not in a coma or confused)
- You do not need a high-oxygen mask or a breathing machine (ventilator)
- You have not had surgery or radiation on your head or neck
