Pain block and fentanyl for children's heart surgery

Postoperative PainPediatric Open Heart Surgery

Who can take part

  • Your child is between 6 months and 6 years old
  • Your child is scheduled for surgery to fix a heart problem they were born with
  • Your child has not had heart surgery before
  • Your child is not on a breathing machine or strong heart medicines before surgery
  • During surgery, your child does not need very low body temperature or certain heart medicines except a low dose of dopamine or dobutamine
