Who can take part

  • Your child has a heart defect and is scheduled for heart surgery with a heart-lung machine.
  • Your child is between 0 and under 6 years old on the day of surgery.
  • Your child has not had an allergic reaction to EXPAREL or similar numbing medicines.
  • Your child was not born before 35 weeks of pregnancy.
  • Your child does not have bleeding problems or a weak immune system.
  • Your parent or guardian must understand the study and agree to all visits and tests.
