This study uses special probes to measure the movement and pressure in your esophagus (the tube connecting your mouth to your stomach) to better understand swallowing problems like achalasia, GERD, and other conditions. The goal is to improve how doctors diagnose and treat these issues.

Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 85 years old.
  • You have trouble swallowing, food getting stuck, chest pain, or regurgitation (food coming back up).
  • You have been diagnosed with achalasia, GERD, scleroderma, or have difficulty swallowing that an endoscopy didn't explain.
  • You can have a thin tube placed through your nose to measure your esophagus and a small probe used during an endoscopy.
  • You are not currently in another clinical trial or have finished one in the last 8 weeks.
  • You do not have severe untreated esophagitis, a blockage in your esophagus, long-segment Barrett's esophagus, or unstable medical conditions.
