Who can take part

  • You are 50 years or older.
  • You need surgery to relieve pressure on nerves in your lower back (one or two levels) using a technique called UBE.
  • You had a special X-ray that looks at your spine while bending forward and backward within the last 3 months.
  • You understand the study and sign a consent form.
  • You do not have a type of spine instability called mobile spondylolisthesis with more than 3 mm of movement.
  • You have not had spine fusion surgery in your lower back before.
